101 Past Performances Studies in Dance — Introduction

The stu­dy of Past Per­for­mances in Dance covers 4 areas in this course :
1. Tex­tual des­crip­tion with 2 dimen­sio­nal sup­port (images/graphics/drawings, for example)
2. Museo­lo­gi­cal 3 dimen­sio­nal repre­sen­ta­tion. Ex.: Pup­pet like cha­rac­ter repre­sen­ta­tions (minia­ture or life size of cha­rac­ters, among others) and exhi­bi­tion of pieces of arti­fact (cos­tume, make-up and props, for example) dis­played in permanent/adhoc exhibitions.
3. Four-dimen­sio­nal repre­sen­ta­tions of events on a timeline :
a) Audio-visual repre­sen­ta­tions on 2 dimen­sio­nal sup­port, from which the depth of field is not specified.
b) Vir­tual repre­sen­ta­tions or simi­lar sup­port where the depth of field is specified.
4. The mul­ti­di­men­sio­nal repre­sen­ta­tion through per­for­mance, where the past per­for­mance is reconstructed.

Ex.: Puppet like character representations (miniature or life size of characters, among others) and exhibition of pieces of artifact (costume, make-up and props, for example) displayed in permanent/adhoc exhibitions. 3. Four-dimensional representations of events on a timeline: a) Audio-visual representations on 2 dimensional support, from which the depth of field is not specified. b) Virtual representations or similar support where the depth of field is specified. 4. The multidimensional representation through performance, where the past performance is reconstructed.
