Rencontres chorégraphiques is a one-time series of get-together around choreography with dance professionals invited to share their views with choreographer Richard Tremblay. This 1997 series of six talks was audio recorded by Radio-Canada and videographed in Bétacam by Danse Kalashas. As part of a part-time project, SILENTCULTURE is in the process of posting part of this program.
Danse Kalashas — Ensemble Mahapooram
From 1994 to 2004, Danse Kalashas and Ensemble Mahapooram (percussion) shared a studio in Montreal that had previously been occupied professionally and actively by dance since 1974. The closure of this space, like that of other dedicated equipment, highlights the need to establish a national policy for the protection and support of dance heritage. The implementation and/or consolidation of such a policy in certain countries has the objective of linking spaces inherited from dance and the development of new spaces with a view to decentralisation.
Some events at the center during this period
The Téâtram Group (theater company) was the crucible of choreographer Richard Tremblay’s early stage works in the choreographic theatre.
